The Statutes of the United Nations World Tourism Organization were adopted on 1970 September 27th. A decade later, since 1980, UNTWO started to celebrate this day as World Tourism Day to educate the public on issues of concern to mobilize political will and resources to address global problems and to celebrate and reinforce achievements of humanity. Just like other international days.
From 1997 UNWTO General Assembly decided to designate a host country each year as its partner for celebration. This year, 2019, India is the host with “Tourism and Jobs — A Better Future For All” theme.
Although Tourism’s role as job creation is not valued without the doubt it won’t be the same in the future, since tourism became one of the fastest growing industries among others.
